Healthy Living for Kids
THOUSANDS of children will learn about healthy living through a groundbreaking mobile exhibition.
A customised lorry with puzzles, quizzes and physical challenges will tour Kirklees this month.
Clr Jim Dodds, Cabinet member for children's services on Kirklees Council, said: "We aim to persuade children to become healthier and provide them with the information and inspiration to maintain their commitment to an active lifestyle."
The Mission: Active Kirklees campaign organised by the Kirklees Schools Sports Partnership begins on Monday.
Some pupils will go aboard the interactive truck for an hour-long session testing their fitness levels and healthy eating habits while others will take part in rounders, indoor athletics and circuits.
The exhibition includes speed bike, stepper and balance boards to test knowledge, speed, balance and agility.
Around 5,000 young people are expected to take part and every child will receive a logbook to monitor their activity levels.
The Mission: Active Future truck has been brought to Kirklees as part of the council's Getting Fit for 2012 campaign in partnership with Kirklees NHS Primary Care Trust.
The truck will be at Leeds Road Sports Barn in the week starting June 11 before moving to the Batley Sports and Tennis Centre the following week.
From June 25 it will be in Longley Tennis Centre before returning to the sports barn on July 2.
